Clear answers for important decisions

Documentation that tells you the trade-offs.

A wallet should explain its behaviour before you trust it with funds. Read the operational details, not just the feature list.

Overview

A browser wallet with explicit boundaries.

Monero Wallet is a full, non-custodial wallet that runs inside Chrome. Its wallet engine is local to the browser; the network connection depends on the Monero node you choose.

Nodes & privacy

Public node or your own node?

A public node is simpler to start with but can observe connection metadata. Your own node can give you stronger control over the network connection. Neither choice changes the need to protect your recovery phrase.

Backup & recovery

Recovery is your responsibility.

There is no password reset. Keep your 25-word phrase offline and test your recovery process on stagenet before relying on it. Encrypted backups should be treated as sensitive data.

Payments

Verify destination, fee and total.

Use address checksum validation, payment requests and the transaction review step. Payment drafts expire after five minutes and uncertain broadcasts are not retried automatically.

Troubleshooting

If the wallet stops working.

Do not delete browser data until you have confirmed your offline recovery phrase. Check the selected node, browser extension permissions and the documented release source. Never send secrets to support.
