Start without risking real funds

Your first Monero wallet, step by step.

Use stagenet to learn the workflow with test coins, then move to mainnet only after you understand backups, nodes and transaction review.

01

Install from the listed source

Use the Chrome Web Store listing. Check the name, publisher details and permissions before installing.

02

Start with stagenet

Create a test wallet and learn the interface with free test coins. Do not use a recovery phrase from a wallet holding real funds.

03

Back up offline

Write down the 25-word recovery phrase and keep it offline. The website and support team will never ask you to submit it.

04

Choose a node consciously

Read the privacy notice, understand the trade-off between a public node and your own node, then sync only when you are ready.

05

Review every payment

Confirm the full address, amount, exact fee and total before broadcast. Treat an uncertain broadcast as uncertain; it is not automatically retried.

Never do this

Never paste your recovery phrase into a website.

No legitimate support flow needs your seed phrase, private spend key or wallet password. If a page asks for one, close it.
