Security is a product feature

Know what stays local — and what a node can see.

Good wallet security starts with accurate boundaries. This page explains the extension’s documented protection model and its limitations.

Protection model

Privacy is not the same as invisibility.

The extension contacts only the Monero node you choose, after a privacy notice. A node may see your IP address, sync timing, requested block range and whether a transaction was broadcast from your IP.

It cannot see your recovery phrase, private keys, password, labels, contacts, notes or balance. Blocks are scanned on your device with your private view key.

AES-256-GCM vault encryption

Keys are decrypted only while the wallet is unlocked.

Automatic lock

Choose a timeout between 1 and 60 minutes; 5 minutes by default.

Review before broadcast

Optional password confirmation before every payment.

No background polling

There is no automatic sync on unlock.

Read before using real funds

Security also means knowing the limits.

Not an official Monero release

This is an independent open-source project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Monero Project.

Not a cold wallet

A browser extension is a hot wallet. Consider cold storage for long-term savings.

No recovery reset

Removing the extension or clearing its data can erase saved wallets. Keep your 25-word recovery phrase offline.

No hardware or dApp connection

The documented product does not support hardware wallets, multisig or dApp/website connections.
